Will the bank Citizens Republic Bank ever pull out of the mess it has gotten itself into?

Will Citizens Republic Bank ever be what they were once? I bought them thinking how could a large bank fail...Does anyone have any thoughts on this? The stock price just seems to be going down. How about Fannie Mae - should a person buy some of it?
