Does my acid reducer interfere with my probiotic supplement?
I am currently taking lactobaccillus GG. The name brand is culterelle. On the package it says that the capsule shell is made in a way that it stays in tact so that the good bacteria stays inside and survives the stomach acid so it will colonize in your intestines to most bennefit you. My question is, If the capsule shell is so durable to protect the contents inside, then what makes it release in your gut later on to do its job. Is it a possibility that the entire capsule will just come out in the toilet? Also I am taking prilosec otc for very frequent heart burn. If I do not have enough stomach acid (due to the prilosec) to break down atleast part of the capsule shell (culterelle), will it still eventually release in my intestine and colonize. If anyone knows who is an expert of some sort could help me out I would greatly appreciate it. I wonder if I am wasting my money on the expensive probiotic supplement.
