Getting married to a US Citizen to return to the US, can I live in Canada while I wait for the papers?

The only thing I can see legally happening is going to Canada on a regular visitor's visa - however long that is for Guatemalans. Also, I'm not too sure how your US process will pan-out if you were deported - so have a back-up plan in case.
